University of Utah, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nin güneybatısında Utah eyaletinin başkenti olan Salt Lake, dağların, göllerin ve ormanların bulunduğu Utah eyaletinin kuzeyinde yer almaktadır. Salt Lake City ABD'de önemli finansal merkez de olmuştur ve şehrin yakınlarında kış sporları ve kayak merkezleri bulunur. Salt Lake 19. Kış Olimpiyatları olan 2002 yılında Kış dönemi Olimpiyat oyunlarını düzenleyen merkez olmuştur. Şehrin isimi şehrin batısında bulunan büyük ve çok tuzlu bir gölden almıştır. Gölün dünyanın en tuzlu ikinci gölüdür.
Salt Lake şehrinin nüfusunun yarısından azı şehrin en görkemli yapısı olan Mormon kilisesinin (İsa Peygamberin “Son Zaman Azizler Kilisesi”) kilisenin mensubudur, birçok yönden hissediliyor. Şehirde Japon mutfağından Meksika mutfağına kadar uluslararası yemekleri tadabileceğiniz restoranlarla doludur. Şehrin gezilecek yerler arasında, Temple Square, Salt Lake Tabernacle ve daha birçok müzeler, bahçeler, tarihi yerler. Miras Parkı, The State Capitol ve Gateway'deki muhteşem market alışverişi sayısız park içeren diğer gezilecek yerler arasındadır.
University of Utah araştırma üniversitesi University of Deseret olarak 1850 yılında Salt Lake şehrinin Wasatch Dağları boyunca kurulmuştur. 1900 yılında ise University of Utah olarak değişmiştir. Dünya Üniversite Sıralaması Merkezi tarafından desteklenen üniversite 2017 yılında 61. Sıraya yükselmiştir. “2017-2018 URAP WORLD RANKING” sıralamasına göre Utah Üniversitesi tüm dünyada 121. Sıradadır, eğer başarılı olmak istiyorsanız, Utah Üniversitesi'nde başlayabilirsiniz.
Üniversitenin 150 akademik departman ve 17 bölümü vardır. Üniversitenin öne çıkan bölümleri Bale, biyoloji, hukuk, bilgisayar bilimleri, diş hekimliği, tıp, farmakoloji ve siyaset bilimidir. Üniversitenin mezunları arasında birçok bilim adamı ve siyasetçi bulunmaktadır.
