University of Birmingham, Kraliçe Victoria tarafından 1900 yılında Royal Charter tarafından kurulan yüksek öğrenim için yeni bir model oluşturmuştur. İngiltere’nin ilk kent üniversitesi “redbrick”, olup tüm inançlardan ve geçmişlerden gelen öğrenciler eşit olarak kabul edilmişti. Kampüsün inşaatı ve mimarisi Sir Aston Webb’in himayesi altında 1909’da tamamlandı. Hem Russell Grubu’nun hem de uluslararası araştırma üniversiteleri ağının kurucu üyesidir.
Birmingham, West Midlands, İngiltere’de metropol bir şehirdir İngiltere’nin ikinci büyük şehridir. İngiltere’nin West Midlands bölgesinde, Londra’nın merkezine yaklaşık 160 km uzaklıkta bulunan Birmingham, Birleşik Krallık’ın büyük şehirlerinden biri olarak Doğu ve Batı Midlands’ın sosyal, kültürel, finansal ve ticari merkezi olarak kabul edilir. Günümüzde, Birmingham yabancı ziyaretçiler tarafından Birleşik Krallık’ta en çok ziyaret edilen dördüncü şehirdir. İngiltere’nin kültürel açıdan en çeşitli şehirlerinden biridir ve şehirde yaşayanların %20’sinden fazlası uluslararası milletlerden oluşmaktadır.
University of Birmingham, İngiltere’nin dördüncü en büyük üniversitesidir. “Complete University Guide 2021” sıralamasında ilk 15 üniversitesi içerisindedir. “High Fliers Research 2020” sıralamasında mezun işverenler tarafından İngiltere’nin en çok hedeflenen 2 üniversitesidir. Kampüs, kozmopolit Birmingham şehrine yakın olup, okulda 22.940 lisans ve 12.505 master öğrencisi bulunmaktadır. Yaklaşık 150 ülkeden 8.700’den fazla uluslararası öğrenci ve akademik personelin %31’i uluslararası olup, küresel bir atmosfere sahip bir üniversite kampüsüdür.
