Essex Üniversitesi 1963 yılında Essex’de kurulan kamu araştırma üniversitesidir. Essex, İngiltere tarihinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Doğuda Cambridgehire, batı’da Herthfordshire, güneybatısında ise Londra bulunur. Yaklaşık 1 saatlik tren yolculuğuyla Londra’ya kolayca ulaşılabilir. Stansted havalimanına ise 50 dakikalık mesafede bulunur.
Mottosu ‘Thought the harder, heart the keener’ olan Essex üniversitesinin 3 farklı kampüsü vardır. Üniversitenin en büyük kampüsü Wivenhoe parkının içinde bulunan Colchester kampüsüdür. Southend ve Loughton’da diğer kampüsleri bulunur. Essex Üniversitesi, Birleşik Krallıkta tesisleşme ve hizmet kalitesi sıralamasında 4. Sırada bulunuyor. Colchester kampüsü içerisinde bulunan Albert Sloman kütüphanesi İngiltere‘nin en modern kütüphaneleri arasındadır. İçerisinde 1655 koltuk kapasiteli basketbol sahasının yanısıra netbol, voleybol, badminton ve futsal sahaları bulunur.
The University of Essex’in 330 lisans, 223 master programı bulunur. 2018 yılında Times Higher Education tarafından Birleşik Krallığın en iyi üniversitesi seçilmiştir. NSS 2019’un anketine göre, İngiltere’de öğrencilerin memnuniyeti açısından 4.sırada yer almıştır. Aynı zamanda the University of Essex, Young European Research Universities’ın (YERUN) içinde bulunur. Times’ın yaptığı araştırmalara göre 2020 yılında en iyi üniversiteler sıralamasında 37.sıradadır. The University of Essex, ünlü isimleri mezun eden üniversite olarak da nam salmıştıır. 1987 Nobel Barış ödülünün sahibi, politikacı ve eski Kostarika Cumhurbaşkanı Oscar Arias. Harry Potter serilerinin başarılı yönetmeni David Yates ve sosyal activist James Gomez.

Pre-Sessional Courses: Essex Üniversitesi’nde lisans programında okumak için, IELTS UKVI sınavını almak gereklidir. Pre-Sessional kurs süreleri hem bu sınav sonucuna göre hem de öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına göre belirlenir. Programın içerisinde öğrenciler İngilizce dil seviyelerini, akademik becerilerini ve belirli konularda temel bilgileri geliştirmek için tasarlanmış ek modüller alacaklardır.
